Description

Position Summary:

The Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety (VP of QPS) is responsible for providing overall vision and direction for all aspects of quality and patient safety of the WVU Medicine academic medical center. The VP of QPS ensures that the organization provides the highest quality care in a safe, timely, and patient centered manner.

Provides executive leadership and direction ensuring that the organization meets accreditation and regulatory standards and fulfills reporting requirements.

Develops and expands continuous clinical performance improvement through the setting of priorities, allocation of resources, oversight of policies and procedures, and the setting and execution of strategic plans.

Exercises management responsibility over entities involved in quality and patient safety, analytics, resource utilization and evidence based medicine, and regulatory affairs. Participates in ongoing optimization of organizational structure relating to quality and safety.

Devotes approximately 20% effort in serving as the Chief Quality Officer (CQO) of the West Virginia University Health System. The CQO leads the Health System quality affinity groups in setting and implementing strategies relating to quality, safety, and performance improvement

Minimum Qualifications:

-Five years’ experience in a quality leadership position at an academic medical center or teaching hospital with greater than 500 beds.

-Masters or doctorate degree in medicine, business, nursing, pharmacy, health administration, management or related discipline.
