  • Responsibilities

    The Local Sales Manager performs the administrative, facilitative, coaching, and mentoring duties necessary to lead a team of VSS Inside AE’s. Achieves the business, sales, and customer service objectives of the department.

    • Develop personnel in all areas of Performance Management including, but not limited to: Customer Service, Sales, Retention, Accuracy, Phone accessibility, Job knowledge, and professionalism
    • Develops and implements plans for the development and growth of subordinates
    • Selects, trains, directs, motivates employees; evaluates performance
    • Administers disciplinary action when necessary
    • Responsible for monitoring call volumes and providing reports to determine objective performance metrics
    • Communicates with clients and practices excellent customer sales and service techniques
    • Exhibits strong organizational abilities
    • Assures on the job training and development for team members
    • Participates in department goal setting sessions and develops plans to achieve these goals
    • Ensures team compliance with VSS standards and develops sales skills of individual team members
    • Assists direct reports and staff support personnel in reaching individual and team sales goals and objectives by measuring performance, giving timely feedback, coaching for improved results, and providing regular monthly performance evaluations for each team member
    • Ensures team performance in achieving monthly and yearly goals
    • Performs Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required
    • Minimum of 5 years of successful media sales or equivalent experience
    • Minimum of 3 years prior sales management, preferably in media sales
    • Internet Advertising Sales and SEO experience required
    • Proficiency with internet terms and concepts, including social media
    • Knowledge of the local media market and local contacts preferred
    • Proven ability to motivate sales staff
    • Financial/budgeting experience
    • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
    • Demonstrated success managing team performance to meet and exceed sales targets
    • Track record of championing change to move business forward
    • Demonstrated use of sales reporting tools and analytics to inform business decisions
    • Strong consultative sales skills (understanding needs, handling objections)
    • Strong people/relationship management skills (with a focus of coaching and development)
    • Demonstrated strong presentation and sales skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Can successfully interface with all levels of management
    • Solid influencing and negotiation skills
    • Can analyze problems and probe facts
    • Knowledge of business planning in a sales environment, related reporting/analytics and forecasting skills (knows what levers to push)
    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize effectively
