Department of Arts, Culture and History/ Library Commission, Kanawha Co. – The West Virginia Library Commission is seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, innovative librarian to help answer the question "What's next for West Virginia libraries?", As part of the Library and Development Services team, librarians are responsible for exploring emerging trends and supporting the work of public libraries across the state through consultation services in all areas of public library operations according to the objectives of the Library Services and Technology Act Strategic Plan. Current program areas include continuing education, services for adults and youth, statewide databases, strategic planning, and data collection and analysis. The available position will be actively contributing to launching and future electronic resource initiatives as they continue to be developed at the Library Commission, including advocacy for WVINFODEPOT.ORG (statewide databases), WVER (West Virginia Electronic Resource Initiate with the Higher Education Policy Commission and four-year institutions) open education resources, West Virginia Digital Library, fostering partnerships and collaborative opportunities, and implementing strategies to achieve the goals of the current LSTA Five-Year Plan and evaluate their effectiveness. Develop and implement programs in areas of special assignment, i.e. Continuing Education, Adult Services, etc. Advise, educate, and support local libraries in best practices and emerging trends in library service delivery and management by actively engaging in site visits, regular contacts, and presentations. Develop strong relationships with library directors, staff, and trustees statewide with partner agencies and organizations. Participate in professional organizations; attend and present workshops and seminars. Contribute to publications and presentations of the West Virginia Library Commission. Candidate must have a master's degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association and three to five years of progressively responsible management experience in the public libraries. The position requires both in-state and out-of-state travel. Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Minimum Qualifications
Training: Master's degree in library science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Two years of full-time of equivalent part-time paid experience as a professional librarian.
