THE POSITION

Department of Commerce/ Division of Natural Resources (DNR)/ Division of Parks and Recreation/ Tygart Lake State Park/ Taylor Co. -  Under general supervision, this employee performs a variety of un-skilled and semi-skilled work at the full performance level in the maintenance and repair of Tygart Lake State Park grounds and facilities. Of the twenty-seven structures, the main structures of Tygart Lake State Park consist of a twenty-room lodge with a restaurant, two conference rooms, gift shop, eleven cottages of varying sizes, forty campsites, one residence, a maintenance building, a beach facility, as well as other associated buildings. This employee is responsible for the upkeep of buildings as well as maintaining the mechanical operation of all structures (i.e. plumbing, door fitting, roof repairs, electrical, HVAC, installing doors and windows, building walls, masonry work, etc.). Responsible for remodeling and updating current facilities as well as construction of new facilities. Must be or must become, a 1-S certified operator to operate two waste water treatment plants located at the park. Must also be able to operate lawn tractors, farm tractors, a ditch witch, wood splitters, weed eaters, chainsaws, shovels, and more to assist in grounds maintenance and improvements. Repairs and replaces walls, floors, steps, doors, window frames, tables, chairs, and other wooden articles or equipment by using saws, power tools, and hand tools. Repairs/reinforces structural components of cottages, i.e. floor joists, studs, foundations, etc. Builds and repairs wooden decks or patios, and builds new furniture as requested. Repairs or replaces lighting fixtures, bulbs, switches, and wiring. Installs simple electrical equipment; repairs or replaces sinks, toilets, faucets, pipes, drains, sewer and water lines; unstops toilets drains and sewer lines; and cleans grease traps. Makes repairs on HVAC system. Performs masonry work such as preparing cement; installing steel rods; patching and finishing cement work; replacing damaged masonry; and repairing and replacing concrete sidewalks, stairs and patios. Performs masonry/stone work such as building foundations, sidewalks, installing ceramic floor and wall tiles, signs, and more. Paints window frames, tables, chairs, buildings, sheds, rooms, and equipment. Gathers and disposes of trash and waste, moves furniture, loads and unloads supplies, moves equipment by hand or with dollies, and set up and removal of conference room. May performs building service work such as floor care, washing walls, windows, mirrors, and fixtures; and cleaning restrooms and bathhouses. May perform building and maintenance work such as cleaning chimneys and refinishing floors. May perform routine grounds work such as mowing, removing snow, and sweeping sidewalks. May assist in the design, building, and maintenance of new and existing trails, including building bridges, proper drainage, and removal of rocks and fallen trees. Repairs and maintains tools and equipment. Regular attendance is required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Training:
No formal education required.

Experience:
Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in building maintenance or as a helper in a building trade.

Special Requirement: Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the Clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling.
