Job Description


The Manager of New Business Development executes strategic plans to identify new customers and expand products and services to existing customers surrounding the Winchester & Western Railroad. Supports the evaluation, cultivation, and execution of new business opportunities and delivers insightful analyses on behalf of the VP of Business Development for the assigned region (Eastern WV, Southern NJ, and Washington, DC areas).  Assists in the development of transaction framework and documentation, and prepares investment presentations to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Promote OmniTRAX products and services: increase product and account penetration with existing and new customers in the assigned regions
  • Partner with senior leadership and operations to ensure revenue growth and maximize customer satisfaction
  • Act as sales lead for all available services to qualified customers in order to meet assigned regional targets
  • Work closely with VP of Business Development on strategic initiatives for customer growth and retention in the assigned regions
  • Monitor car storage and storage in-transit developments in the assigned regions
  • Create annual railroad carload and revenue budget: update throughout the year as part of revenue and carload forecasting function
  • Maintain a network of relationships across the railroad industry; leverage relationships in opportunity identification and transaction execution
  • Translate business and product strategy into a partner engagement strategy: identify partnerships that can grow OmniTRAX services
  • Develop contact lists for customers to ensure questions and concerns get to the appropriate personnel as efficiently as possible
  • Demonstrate professionalism and enthusiasm in servicing the OmniTRAX customer portfolio
  • Plan and execute multiple monthly meetings with existing and/or potential customers
  • Perform specified quota of target calls each month with potential customers
  • Prepare and deliver potential equity and industry target presentations quarterly to senior leadership



  • Routinely monitor and revise account profiles for the assigned regions
  • Work flexible hours to meet customer and business needs
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field
  • 2-3 years’ business development experience within the transportation industry
  • Excellent project and time management skills; prioritize multiple tasks: work efficiently under tight time constraints to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills; quickly establish rapport and create atmosphere of trust in all relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effectively converse with all levels of the company, customers, business associates
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Proposal development and pricing/costing experience
  • Leverage analytics, data, and insights to drive decision-making and action
  • Strong presentation skills in order to present information to audiences of varying backgrounds and viewpoints
  • Professional integrity and accountability
  • Work in fast-paced collaborative environment
  • Self-motivated; driven to exceed department and company objectives
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel



  • Valid Driver’s License


  • Previous experience in Rail Transportation, Supply Chain Logistics, Manufacturing and/or Oil and Gas industries
  • MBA



  • Up to 50%, as the business requires
