NorthropGrumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense andaviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our products includelaunch vehicles, propulsion systems, missile products, subsystems and defenseelectronics, precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition, satellites andspace components and services, and advanced aerospace structures.


NorthropGrumman Innovation Systems is currently seeking a Production Supervisor tojoin our team in Rocket Center, West Virginia, just outside ofCumberland, Maryland.


TheAllegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) site in Rocket Center, designs,develops and manufactures tactical rocket motors, medium caliber ammunition,composite components and end items, and fuze and electronics equipment. Fordecades, the dedicated and highly skilled team at ABL has supported nationalsecurity efforts by developing and building defense systems for DoD customersand U.S. allies.


Role description &Responsibilities:


  • Provides direction and motivates employees on a project basisto employees in a single facility, guided by established practices andprecedents.

  • Ability to provide and interpret written and verbalinstructions

  • Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications topractices that affect his or her direct reports.

  • Frequently performs ongoing tasks of the department.

  • Provides technical support to engineering staff in theoperation and maintenance (routine and non-routine) of manufacturing equipment.

  • Works directly with maintenance and engineering in running,maintaining, troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.

  • Ensures a safe working environment is maintained at alltimes.

  • Reviews results for timeliness, quality, and costeffectiveness to accomplish departmental goals.

  • Executes manpower forecasts.

  • Interacts frequently with direct reports and managersconcerning operations and scheduling

  • Schedules work, leads and trains direct reports, and controlsprocesses on a scheduled basis within cost parameters while maintainingpositive working relationships.

  • Administers and complies with the union contract, trains newemployees and new processes obtained for the department.

  • Provides sound judgment and ensures overall quality andefficiency of the department




Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:


  • Associates Degree in a related field orTechnical School certification or a high school diploma with 10 years ofcontinuous service experience as a Supervisor in a manufacturing setting.

  • Availabilityand willingness to work a variety of shifts, as needed, which may include 2ndor 3rd shift

  • Ability to provide sound judgment to ensureoverall quality and efficiency of the department.

  • Experience using MicrosoftWord and MS Office

  • Experience in electrical, mechanical, pneumaticequipment

  • Eligible to obtain a DoD Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship is aprerequisite

  • Flexible with work assignments. 

  • Proactive safety attitude.

PreferredQualifications:


  • Demonstratedhands-on mechanical aptitude

  • Priorexperience supervising in a manufacturing unionized environment

  • Experiencewith Lean manufacturing techniques


Thisposition falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau ofAlcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location.  Candidateshired into this role will be required to complete and submit an EmployeePossessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.
