Title:Special Needs Coordinator

Special Needs Coordinator (10 hours)

Reports to: Family Pastor

Team: Family Ministry

The Special Needs Coordinator will have a specialized role that will allow a person with training and expertise in special needs education or assistance to grow our current special needs program. This role will continue to build on the buddy system for kids who can be mainstreamed with help, as well as opening up more places for kids to be involved in the Incredibles program. This person will also serve as a liaison to new families who have children with special needs from birth - 12th grade, assisting them in connecting in the best ways possible in what is offered at CRC.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Develop weekly curriculum based on elementary curriculum for Incredibles

  • Prep all needed materials and room for Incredibles weekly

  • ACTS [attracting, connecting, training & sustaining] volunteers

  • Schedule weekly volunteers for Incredibles and Buddy System

  • Responsible for staffing Incredibles room weekly (Training of volunteers to be able to oversee the room)

  • Interface with parents of children with special needs from birth - 12th grades to determine their best fit (mainstreamed, buddy, or separate room)

  • Develop Buddy system

  • Work with Family Ministry programs to ensure a quality experience for children with special needs in each environment

Serve on the overall CRC staff team which includes:

  • Participating in weekly planning/strategy meetings

  • Meet regularly with Supervisor for feedback and growth

  • Providing assistance on all-church initiatives [baptism and membership interviews]

  • Collaborate with Family Ministries to ensure effective transition of children between departments

  • Act as an ambassador for CRC by positively reflecting the vision, mission, strategy and values to those inside and outside our walls.

  • Be able to assess and advise attendees and volunteers as to how and where they can take their next steps towards God and within the ministry.
