Overall Job Summary: A person in this mid-level engineering position will plan, design, coordinate, validate, and implement optical inspection equipment and/or processes for the production and inspection of Intraocular lenses (IOLs) for Alcon's Huntington, WV manufacturing facility. This person is accountable for the following:

* Specifying System Requirements that fulfill Manufacturing, Project Management, and R&D needs;
* Analysis, alignment and maintenance of optical instruments and other equipment as needed;
* Assembly and testing of newly designed fixtures and equipment;
* Technical Assessment of new equipment for Regulatory and Quality Compliance;
* Managing the entire validation process, including writing and reviewing technical reports;
* Investigating yield problems and proposing process and tooling improvements.

A person in this role must demonstrate the ability to determine root cause; data-driven decision making; and strong analytical skills. He or she must have excellent written/verbal/communications; strong computer skills; strong interpersonal skills; and must be able to perform in a fast-paced, team environment.

Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related scientific discipline.

Minimum Experience Requirements: This position requires five (5) years of experience with a BS degree; two (2) years with a Masters Degree. Experience should include project management experience; technical writing and documentation skills; experience purchasing, installing, validating, supporting, and troubleshooting automated equipment including software; and other engineering functions. Preference given to those candidates with a broad based optical engineering knowledge specifically in the area of Modulation Transfer Function (MTF), Shack-Hartmann (Aberrometry), and lens testing; as well as experience with software programs such as Zemax, Word and Excel. Preference also given to those with experience in medical device manufacturing or similar regulated industry.
