The American Cancer Society is a not-for-profit health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. We are also dedicated to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.

We have an exciting opportunity available for a motivated Community Health Advisor (CHA) Manager.

This is a home based position that will be assigned to the Charleston, WV office and it will serve Boone. Logan, and Mingo counties in West Virginia. Mileage reimbursement is offered with this position.

This is position is part of the American Cancer Society s work to provide support and health education to family, friends, neighbors, and other community members. The goal is to reduce cancer disparities and improve the health of the community. Full-time position with benefits, working in 3 local communities in West Virginia.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify and recruit expertise for a local advisory/steering committee to assess and plan community activities for the CHA Program. Manage the logistics and coordination of committee meetings.
Establish and manage partnerships with community based organizations and individuals invested in addressing health disparities in defined area.
Recruit, train, and provide day-to-day leadership to the Community Coordinators serving in assigned areas.
Working through the community committee and Community Coordinators, implement tactics to ensure the recruitment and retention of CHAs.
Coordinate and attend CHA training and monthly maintenance meetings.
Promote CHA program and activities.
Track and monitor CHA program completing monthly reports and providing updates to community committee, Community Coordinator and supervisor.
Serve as link between the community, CHAs and ACS.
Adhere to ACS reporting guidelines for all program records, data and information requests.
Manage financial resources within the established budget to ensure good stewardship.
Act in the best interest of the ACS to enhance the ACS public image.
Actively, accurately, and effectively represent the Society and its mission.
Proactively and assertively addresses issues as they arise.
Makes business based decisions; maintains accurate files, submits timely and accurate reports; meets timelines, follows through; apprises supervisor of status; provides viable & innovative solutions to problems; attends meetings/trainings, adheres to approved policy/procedure, represents the organization in a professional manner; makes effective presentations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma and 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Reliable transportation required.

Knowledge and experience working with communities they will serve.
Experience working in diverse settings managing volunteers.
Knowledge of community mobilization.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to achieve results through others and problem solve.
Strong time management, project management and meeting management skills.
Ability to cultivate and maintain long-term relationships.
Proficient knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office software, internet based applications and computer equipment.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Able for frequent daily travel.

Hiring Range: $27,680 - $32,178
