Position Description

The American Cancer Society, South Atlantic Division seeks an experienced Community Outreach Manager . This position will be assigned to the Charleston, WV office and willl serve North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

*** This is a full-time limited position with benefits. Assignment duration is 1 year with the possiblity of becoming permanent. Position end date is August 31, 2012.***

The Community Outreach Manager will help the American Cancer Society reduce health disparities. Seeking candidates with strong background in public health and experience working with diverse populations and communities. Location within North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia is negotiable.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the planning, implementation, and assessment of cancer outreach and screening navigation strategies statewide and in selected markets.
Serve as account manager for state partnerships for screening outreach, navigation, access to services, and outcomes data, including state BCCEDPs( Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program) and other state screening programs.
Manage screening outreach and navigation project budget and expenditures, including compliance with any funding source requirements.
Develop, implement, and monitor screening outreach and navigation work plans, programs reports, and budget reports, as required by ACS or funding sources.
Develop, maintain and monitor state partnerships for screening outreach and navigation programs, in coordination with other ACS staff.
Implement social marketing campaigns for screening outreach and navigation programs, in coordination with other Community Outreach staff.
Support the implementation of CHW Network communications strategies for CHW and partner organization skill building, engagement, retention, and recognition.
Support the implementation of public relations and marketing strategies for branded CHW program and ACS leadership role in screening outreach and navigation.
Monitor cancer screening of priority populations and assess priority areas and unmet needs.
Contribute to the development, editing and presentation of program materials.
Prepare/review/present abstracts for dissemination through state and national programs on occasional basis.
Develop and promote a positive work environment that fosters teamwork and provides for personal and organizational growth.
Work effectively with others to accomplish program and organizational goals.
Makes business based decisions; maintains accurate files, submits timely and accurate reports; meets timelines, follows through; apprises supervisor of status; provides viable & innovative solutions to problems; attends meetings/trainings, adheres to approved policy/procedure, represents the organization in a professional manner; makes effective presentations.
Perform other related work as required.
Proactively and assertively addresses issues as they arise

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and five years experience in administration, health education or related field.
Knowledge and experience in public health planning, assessment, and implementation
Reliable transportation required.

Other Desirable Qualifications:
Masters Degree in administration, health education or related field
Prior successful account management experience
Experience in cancer control and/or other federally funded health programs
Experience in community-based health education and promotion
Experience in monitoring/developing project plans and budgets
